Nagpur: An 18-year-old girl, who had consumed a large amount of anti-malarial tablets on Tuesday, passed away at a private hospital on Thursday.
Ruchika Gaikwad, a resident of Takia Dhantoli, allegedly took the extreme step after being scolded by her mother for having a fight with her elder sister over a trivial matter. Upset, Ruchika took out her mother’s medicine bag and consumed around 26 anti-malaria tablets. Ruchika’s mother is undergoing treatment for malaria. A little later she fell unconscious and was rushed to a nearby hospital when the family members noticed her condition.
Ruchika; however, breathed her last while undergoing treatment. When Dhantoli police came to know about the incident, they rushed to the hospital. A case of accidental death has been registered and investigations have been started. Ruchika’s postmortem was conducted on Thursday. (TNN)
